Things My Children Have Learned From Me By Gwen Morrison
I recently reflected on what exactly my four children have learned from me. I have been employed in this often tempestuous role of motherhood for almost 18 years now surely my children have picked up a thing or two along the way!
I've come to the conclusion that there are things that my children may have learned from me that I hesitate to admit, but there are a lot of things my children have learned from me that I will gladly own as my contribution.
My kids have learned that it is possible to change a diaper with one hand while picking lint off the carpet with the other. Multi-tasking is huge in our house! They have witnessed me stir spaghetti sauce, talk on the phone and disinfect the white countertops all at the same time.
Here are some more of the important lessons my children have learned from me:
- It is possible to take a shower and clean the shower stall at the same time. Lesson learned? Time management.
- It is not a good idea to pick up a muffin pan with your bare hands less than five minutes after it comes out of the oven. Lesson learned? Common sense.
- Do not put a glass baking dish on the stovetop burner it will explode into a million pieces. Lesson learned? Physics.
- You can feed a family of six for $100 a week. Lesson learned? Money management.
- There is no better place to sit when you are sad than on a mom's lap. Lesson learned? Biology.
- It's OK to have a bad hair day. Lesson learned? Self-esteem.
- Coloring your hair twice in one week will make it turn orange. Lesson learned? Patience
